Amulya Agrawal August 13, Brainstorm Unique Swimsuit Designs and Adjust to the Latest Trends Since the swimwear industry is one of the most competitive, it is crucial to design a line that catches attention fast just ahead of and during peak season.

Decide on Swimsuit Fabric Materials and Reach Out to Manufacturers Swimwear manufacturing differs from the processes involved in making other garments because, as mentioned previously, the garments must be able to stand up to uniquely harsh use cases.

Ask yourself not only which fabric materials are the most popular in swim at the moment, but also: Will the swimwear be made for athletes or beach visitors? How much should the fabric weigh to survive beach conditions while also being comfortable for the chosen target market? What about stretchiness and durability for beach activities? For swimmer athletes or lap swimmers, you should choose a fabric that will tightly conform to bodies to allow them to easily glide in water.

Fabrics like nylon, polyester, and spandex work best, as they are form-fitted, long lasting, and don't stretch easily. In normal beach swimwear, there is more room for designers to attach sequins and aesthetics, as there is less pressure to choose fabrics that provide control. You can consider fabrics with more stretch for comfort in suits meant for relaxed beach or poolside activities. Fabrics like nylon blends and lycra are ideal because they are soft and provide plenty of stretch while maintaining durability for beach conditions.

You can do this by clicking the link below and searching your desired name into the search bar. Designing the logo. Personally, this was one of my favorite parts of building my brands identity.

This is when your creativity and vision for your brand will really get to flourish. First, think about how you want your brand to be looked at. Is it a luxury swimwear brand, kids swimwear, bargain swimwear etc.?

Think about who your customer base is, and how you want your brand to be perceived. Be Unique. Do not be afraid to sketch out and design a logo that may differ from the ordinary "swimwear brand logo". If you see a lot of other brands doing plain text logos, do something that stands out. Start by sketching out your logo in many different fonts and formats until you see something that you love.

Take that vision and go on Fiverr. Don't be discouraged if this process takes longer than expected. You can always change your logo in the future, so don't worry about it being perfect. Who you are selling to, can highly effect the way your brand will be created. If you are selling to high income, middle aged women, you will want your business to be luxurious and use designs, colors, and fonts to showcase that.

Black and white are a great go-to for luxury brands. If you're brand is not labeled as "luxury" try playing around with different colors, for instance if its "eco friendly" playing around with blues and greens would be beneficial for your brand. Know who you are selling to. Start by sketching out your designs in any way that is helpful for you. Personally, I was never good at drawing, so this was always a bit of difficult process for me. I do not have a degree in fashion or arts, but in Business Marketing.

So this part of the process was a bit challenging for me at first. But the great thing is, you don't have to be good at drawing! You can always make rough sketches and send them to a freelance graphic designer who will then bring your sketches to life either on paper or on photoshop. You can always use references of other pieces to help give you an idea of how to sketch out your ideas.

Start by drawing out your sketches, send them to a graphic designer to be brought to life, then make sure you label your sketches. Labeling is an extremely important step, as the manufacturer needs everything to be clear and concise so they can make the sample correctly. This will include any accessories, stitching, measurements, fabric, cuts, etc.

Labeling every piece of the suit will allow for the manufacturer to finish the process much smoother and faster. First you have to decide where you want your products to be made. There are pros and cons for both. If your products are made in the USA, you will be able to be more hands on and actually visit the manufacturer who is producing your products. The major difference between the two is costs.

There is a huge price difference between getting your swimwear manufactured in the US, and in another country. If you want to get them made in China be aware of shipping costs, tariffs, and other economical setbacks that may effect your business. Finding a manufacturer is a journey.

You will search through hundreds of different ones hoping to find the perfect match for you. And the worst part, most of the good manufacturers can not be found on Google, simply because they don't want to be found. So if you want to produce in the US, simply ask around, reach out to other brand owners and see where they are getting their stuff manufactured. Website: shopify.

Once you have chosen the domain, web hosting, and platform, it's time to get started with the design phase.

Themes are a great way to produce the fundamental style and identity of your website - this includes everything from your font design to your blog post styles. My passion was my purpose and that is what inspired me and drove me to launch. I had a launch party at my house with about 30 friends and friends of friends, there was champagne and a catwalk show… but none of my friends wanted to model in the catwalk show down my corridor, so I put the bikinis on and showcased them and got my first few sales that night!

Since then, our launch parties have stepped up, with real models at a dreamy venue with goodie bags, grazing tables, drinks and beauty bars and a DJ. Social Media Advertising is one of the leading ways to get the word out when it comes to swimwear line. There are various different Social Media platforms available to you. Some may be more critical for your marketing efforts than others, however, it's important to have an understanding of what's out there and available to you.

Partnering with like-minded influencers within your industry is one of the most effective ways to grow your social media organically. Industry influencers already have an established and loyal following. With one post, your product immediately establishes a connection with a brand new audience. It's that powerful. When finding influencers to promote your product, do your research and make sure that their following will actually be interested in your product.

It's easy to be blinded by any influencer with a huge following, but if those followers don't resonate with your product, there may not be any value there Evan Marshall, founder of Plain Jane discusses how "micro-influencers" have impacted his business:.

Influencer marketing has been huge for us. Our approach is pretty simple. We give out samples of our products and ask people to post about us on social media aka a micro-influencer strategy. We really like this approach because we get authentic stories and content. We cannot really control the messaging so the product has to speak for itself. Our customers take the photos and we ask to reuse them. It takes more time per influencer but the payoff is certainly worth it.

Make sure their followers look like your existing customers. Other accounts have tried to grow themselves through botting or other manipulations. You just have to post consistently and then reply or like every single comment you get. It takes months but it works. The more engaged list of emails, the more engaged customers, which ultimately leads to more sales.

One of the best ways to start growing your list is by providing your customer with something free or discounted in return. Dylan Jacob, founder of Brumate states their email collection tactic that is proven to work:.

Here are the most common types of email campaigns you can send to your customers and their benefits:. Here's a great resource for finding curated email designs, for all types of email campaigns!

Providing exceptional care and creating relationships with clients is a great way to build your reputation and retain customers. Whether you are an online business or a physical business, it's highly important to communicate with customers and make them feel like they are the priority.

Customer service is huge for us. Like I talked about, building a community has been one of the best bi-products in the shop. If we have a customer that comes in quite a bit, we will begin to notice what they buy and reach out to them if something new comes in if we think they will like it.

We also try to call people by name and greet them as if they were entering my home, not just the shop. Another great way we retain customers is through a loyalty point system. When a customer gains enough points through their purchases, they are rewarded with a discount. Sure we sacrificed sales, but we kept our integrity, played the long game and people saw and appreciated that, and really began emotionally investing in the brand.
