As Diwali is a very special and auspicious festival, it is good to wear traditional wear in these days. No matter how much you like to wear black because it makes you look good, the color is not considered auspicious. People often keep it away from any religious thing. Similarly, on Dhanteras, it is advised not to bring anything home that is in colour black. You can consider wearing a beautiful anarkali suit in holy hues of yellow, pink or red and avoid wearing black on this day.

Since most of the folks prefer to wear traditional clothes on this day, you can also choose to wear Indo western clothes for Dhanteras. Never buy sharp objects, iron items, stainless steel utensils they have a big percentage of iron in them , black color things, glass objects, fake gold and oil. If you wish to buy a car on the day of Dhanteras, do not make the payment on this day. It is also not auspicious to give away gifts on this day. This Diwali, look your best with the colour white!

Symbolically this must be the day of receipts and not debits. Also, people perform Lakshmi Puja in the evening where diyas of clay are lit and devotional songs are sung. The diyas are known to drive the evil spirits away and the songs praise the goddess Lakshmi and invite her to their homes.
